START TO FINISH
Registration begins at 9am on Thursday, September 16 and the retreat ends around 5pm on Saturday, September 18, 2010

ONGOING GALLERY
We will have a gallery where you may display all those items that you have made, were made for you, are still working on, or are just plain interesting or unusual. This will give everyone the opportunity to fully experience all of your treasures. Consider adding a personal note or label so readers may get the full story about your item. Take time to attach a personal note with any interesting information ....an unusual story?....what materials were used....who made it.... what pattern was used?

RAFFLE
We will have a raffle again this year........maybe you be the lucky winner!!! Tickets are $1.00 each or 6 tickets for $5.00. Marsha Lee takes charge of this event and provides much "persuasion" and laughter.

MASSAGE THERAPIST
Mary has once again arranged for us to receive special attention and relaxation by providing us with our very own massage therapist. He will be available on Friday and appointments may be made that day and scheduled for your desired amount of time. Payment of $15.00 for 20 minutes or $1.00 per minute is to be made at the time of service.

T-SHIRTS
An originally designed,  knitting themed  T-shirt will be available again this year. Click here for information concerning style, sizing, price, and ordering.

OTHER "STUFF"
There will be yarns, kits, needles, accessories, and even a few "Surprise Specials" so bring some extra cash or your checkbook [sorry, no plastic excepted].

DAILY AGENDA, CLASS PROJECT DESCRIPTIONS, & EVENING EVENTS

Thursday, September 16
Morning: 10a-12noon
1. Beginning Knitting
A kit will be available for purchase which will include practice yarn, your very own needles, yarn to make a scarf and yarn to make a small knitted change purse which you will later felt [felting is a way to shrink and "firm" the knitted fabric by using the washing machine. It makes the knitting look very even and uniform making it is the perfect project for the beginning knitter]. You will be amazed at what you are able to make as your VERY FIRST  PROJECT.
Kit price: $15.00. Payment for patterns and kits will be collected at class time

2. Fan and Feather Shawl

FanAndFeatherShawlThe fan and feather pattern involves only a four row pattern repeat but it looks oh, so much more complicated than what it actually is. It looks very elegant when the Blue Heron hand dyed rayon yarn is used, warm and toasty when wool or alpaca is used and very functional when a cotton/bamboo yarn is used.
Pattern price: $4.00. Payment for patterns and kits will be collected at class time

3. Cable Hat
CableHatMake this hat in one of three available sizes. Bulky weight yarn makes this hat a quick project.
In addition to cable making, learn:
~how to count rows to determine the placement of the next cable round
~how to calculate evenly spaced increases in a round
~how to increase by knitting into the stitch in the round below
~how to avoid "the gap" when joining in the round
Pattern price: $4.00. Payment for patterns and kits will be collected at class time

Afternoon: 1:30p-4:30p
Continuation of Morning Classes

Evening: After Dinner
Mystery Knit ?????? Bring size 2 needles for this fun, group  project. Yarn and Company will supply everything else.

Friday, September 17
Morning: 10a-12noon
Baskets1.Basket Making Joni Neubert, an accomplished basket maker, will teach us how to make our own Egg Basket [one of my all-time favorite baskets]. This traditionally styled basket features a wooden handle with accents of colored reeding.... or bring and use your own "funky" yarn to express your individual creativity. This basket is the perfect size to carry or to store your current knitting projects and yarn stash.
Kit price: small $35, large $45.

MiteredBags2.Small Mitered Bag
This small mitered-looking bag is actually made using an entrelac technique and is recommended for the more experienced knitter who is comfortable using 5 double pointed needles and is skilled at stitch recognition. This is an opportunity to learn how to knit entrelac in the round as well as knitting backwards. This is a good practice for picking up stitches, doing wrap-and-turns and working the wrap and turned stitches later.... there's a lot going on in this small project. The bag can be made using a self striping yarn or control the color changes yourself by introducing a new color with each added section.
Pattern price: no charge.

CrossHatchScarf 3. Cross Hatch Scarf
This interesting technique has the appearance of having been woven rather than knitted. It looks best using a variegated yarn and Manos del Uruguay is the PERFECT choice.
Pattern price: no charge.

Afternoon: 1:30p-4:30p
Continuation of Morning Classes

Evening: After Dinner
Chinese Skein Exchange
Bring along a gift-wrapped skein of yarn for this unusual and fun exchange. Make your skein something special---something that YOU would love to receive.

Saturday, September 18
Morning: 10a-12noon
NeedleFelting1. Needle Felting A special barbed needle allows unspun wool to be manipulated and formed into shapes or designs which can then be used to accent, embellish or decorate other items. It can also produce three dimensional objects to make ornaments, pins, key rings, etc. by using a "free hand" method, by forming shapes using a cookie cutter, or with the use of a stencil. Do you have a  finished felted project [a pair of slippers, a purse, a hat] that you'd like to decorate?......bring it and let's make it BEE-YOU-TEA-FUL.
Kit Price: $9.00 [includes a square of denim, a pin back, 3 sizes of felting needles and a foam felting surface]. A pack of assorted colors of roving will also be available for $9.00. Payment for patterns and kits will be collected at class time

2. Basic Crochet The use of simple crochet stitches can enhance the look of your knitted project as well as providing a quicker way of joining project pieces, flattening edges, or adjusting the style or size of a completed piece.
No pattern or kit purchase required.

In addition to the scheduled classes on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday; several kit selections will also be available so that there will be a variety of knitting projects from which to choose.
